In my world, the first half of 2019 was dominated by film festival work. I managed the Second Annual Dr. Saul and Dorothy Kit Film Noir Festival in March. We screened 12 adaptations of Cornell Woolrich’s fiction, with many films presented in 35mm. In May I helped manage the 32nd annual Columbia University Film Festival (CUFF). We screened 34 MFA thesis shorts at Lincoln Center, held our annual Screenwriting Night, and hosted an awards screening and ceremony at the DGA Theater. Festival season ended for me in June with CUFF LA, the Los Angeles sidebar of CUFF, where we organized meetings, panels, and screenings. Here’s to doing it all again in 2020.
